Illia Wayans: Age, Parents, Siblings & Career
If you searched for Illia Wayans, you may also see her name written as Ilia Wayans in professional and entertainment databases. The latter spelling is used by NYU Tisch and IMDb, while “Illia Wayans” remains a common search spelling. More importantly, the available record shows that she is more than simply a member of the famous Wayans family: she has studied film, directed short films, worked in production, and has screen credits of her own.
Quick Answer: Who Is Illia Wayans?
Illia Wayans, professionally listed as Ilia Wayans, is the daughter of comedian and actor Shawn Wayans. She was born in 2003 and grew up in Los Angeles. Unlike many celebrity-family profiles that focus mainly on her relatives, her documented career includes filmmaking, writing, directing and production work. Illia Wayans or Ilia Wayans: Which Spelling Is Correct?
Both spellings appear online, but Ilia Wayans is the spelling used in important professional records.
NYU Tisch identifies her as Ilia Wayans, while IMDb also lists her under that spelling. Her NYU filmmaker profile describes her as a filmmaker born and raised in Los Angeles and notes that she graduated with a BFA in Film & TV.
For search purposes, however, “Illia Wayans” is still important because it is the spelling many people use when looking for her.
The clearest editorial approach is therefore to use Illia Wayans in the article title and acknowledge Ilia Wayans as the professional spelling.
How Old Is Illia Wayans?
Public biographical information identifies Ilia Wayans as having been born in 2003. Shawn Wayans’ IMDb biography lists two daughters, Laila and Illia, with Illia born in 2003.
Because a reliably established exact day and month of birth is not available from the strongest sources reviewed, it is better not to present a specific birthday as fact.
In 2026, someone born in 2003 would be 22 or 23, depending on whether their birthday has already occurred.
That distinction matters because many celebrity biography websites publish an exact birthday without clearly showing where the information originated.
Who Are Illia Wayans’ Parents?
Her Father: Shawn Wayans
Illia Wayans’ father is Shawn Wayans, the actor, comedian, writer and producer known for projects such as The Wayans Bros., Scary Movie, White Chicks, Little Man and Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood. IMDb identifies Ilia as one of Shawn Wayans’ children.
Shawn is one of the central figures in the large Wayans entertainment family. His career has included acting, comedy, writing and producing, making Illia’s family background unusually connected to Hollywood from multiple generations.
Her Mother
Information about Illia Wayans’ mother is less consistently documented in the strongest public sources than her relationship with Shawn Wayans.
Some celebrity biography websites identify her mother as Ursula Alberto, but the available high-quality sources reviewed for this article do not establish that relationship as clearly as they establish Shawn Wayans as her father.
For that reason, the responsible approach is to avoid presenting an uncertain maternal detail as a confirmed fact.
Who Are Illia Wayans’ Siblings?
Shawn Wayans’ IMDb biography identifies three children: daughters Laila and Illia and son Marlon. It gives Laila’s birth year as 1999, Illia’s as 2003 and Marlon’s as 2006.
This makes Laila and Marlon her siblings.
It is also important not to confuse Marlon Wayans, her uncle, with Marlon Wayans, her younger brother. The Wayans family includes several generations of relatives with overlapping names, so family-tree articles can easily become confusing.
That broader family structure is similar to the kind of celebrity-family context covered in TrendVica’s Amelia Jane Henson family biography, where immediate and extended family relationships also need to be kept separate.
How Is Illia Wayans Connected to the Wider Wayans Family?
Illia belongs to the younger generation of the Wayans family.
Her father, Shawn Wayans, is the brother of well-known entertainers including Keenen Ivory Wayans, Damon Wayans, Marlon Wayans and Kim Wayans, among other siblings. IMDb’s family records also identify Illia as a niece or nephew within the extended Wayans family network.
That means her family connections include actors, comedians, writers, directors and producers across several generations.
However, being part of the Wayans family does not automatically explain Illia’s own professional direction. Her education and documented projects show that she has developed an interest in filmmaking in her own right.
Where Did Illia Wayans Go to College?
Illia Wayans studied at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, focusing on Film & TV.
NYU’s official profile identifies her as an undergraduate filmmaker and states that she graduated with a BFA in Film & TV. The university also describes her creative interests as centered on coming-of-age stories, flawed characters and interpersonal relationships.
This is one of the clearest pieces of evidence that her professional interests extend beyond simply being a celebrity’s daughter.
Her education also provides context for the short films and directing work that followed.
What Does Illia Wayans Do?
The strongest current evidence points to filmmaking, writing, directing and production work.
NYU describes Ilia Wayans as a filmmaker and credits her as the writer and director of Me (and You). Her earlier short film Go Fish also lists her as writer and director.
She has also worked in production. IMDb’s credits for Poppa’s House list Ilia Wayans as a production assistant on multiple episodes.
So describing her simply as an actress would miss an important part of her documented career.
A more accurate description is that she is a young filmmaker and creative professional whose work spans directing, writing, production and screen appearances.
Illia Wayans’ Early Filmmaking Work: Go Fish
One of the earliest documented projects connected to Ilia Wayans is the short film ** Go Fish **.
FilmFreeway lists Ilia Wayans as both the director and writer. The project is described as a six-minute student short about an absent father attempting to reconnect with his 17-year-old daughter through a fishing trip. It was completed in November 2020.
The project is significant because it demonstrates that her interest in filmmaking was not something that appeared only after she became associated with the Wayans name.
Instead, directing and storytelling were already part of her creative development while she was young.
Me (and You) and Illia Wayans’ Directing Career
Her most clearly documented filmmaking achievement is ** Me (and You) **.
NYU Tisch lists Ilia Wayans as both the director and writer of the 15-minute undergraduate film. The story follows a 14-year-old girl named Odella who tries to prevent her single mother from returning to an abusive former partner while they are leaving town.
The film reflects the subjects NYU identifies as central to Wayans’ filmmaking interests: coming-of-age experiences, family dynamics and complicated interpersonal relationships.
That makes Me (and You) more than a simple student-credit entry. It provides a useful window into the kind of stories she wants to tell.
Did Illia Wayans Win a Directing Award?
Yes.
NYU Tisch’s official 2025 awards page lists Ilia Wayans as the Undergraduate Film & TV recipient of the Jagat Murari Directing Award for Me (and You).
This is one of the strongest independently documented accomplishments in her biography.
It also gives more context to her career than generic celebrity websites that focus almost entirely on her family relationships.
Her progression can be summarized simply:
2020: Go Fish — writer/director
College years: Film & TV studies at NYU Tisch
2025: Me (and You) — writer/director
2025: Jagat Murari Directing Award — Undergraduate Film & TV
2024–2025: Production work on Poppa’s House
2026: Screen credit in Scary Movie
Was Illia Wayans in Scary Movie?
Yes. IMDb’s current full credits for Scary Movie (2026) list Ilia Wayans as “Hostess.”
The credit is relatively small, so it should not be used to describe her as an established leading actress.
It is more accurate to say that she has a screen credit while continuing to build a broader career involving filmmaking and production.
The connection is also notable because Scary Movie is deeply associated with the Wayans family: Shawn and Marlon Wayans are among the franchise’s central original creators and performers, while the 2026 film includes several members of the extended Wayans family in its credits.
What Other Film and TV Work Has Ilia Wayans Done?
Her documented work extends beyond directing.
Poppa’s House
IMDb credits Ilia Wayans as a production assistant on multiple episodes of Poppa’s House.
That work is particularly relevant because the series is itself connected to the Wayans family through Damon Wayans and other family members.
Smoke Slow
Ilia Wayans also appears in Joshua Bassett’s 2022 music video “Smoke Slow.” IMDb lists her among the video’s principal cast as the Girl.
Naive
IMDb currently includes Naive (2023) among the projects associated with her professional profile.
Taken together, these credits show a creative path that is broader than a single job title.
Is Illia Wayans an Actress or Filmmaker?
Both descriptions have some basis, but filmmaker is the stronger description of her documented professional identity.
She has screen credits, including Smoke Slow and Scary Movie, but NYU specifically describes her as a filmmaker and documents her writing and directing work.
Her available credits therefore point to several creative roles:
- Writer
- Director
- Filmmaker
- Production assistant
- Screen performer
Calling her only an actress would leave out her education and most distinctive documented work.
What Is Known About Illia Wayans’ Personal Life?
Compared with her professional background and family connections, relatively little reliable information is publicly documented about Illia Wayans’ private life.
Questions about relationships, marriage, dating, residence and private social-media activity appear in celebrity searches, but the strongest sources reviewed do not provide enough evidence to build a detailed personal-life profile.
That makes restraint important.
A lack of public information does not mean that a claim repeated across several biography websites has automatically become a fact.
For a young creative professional who has not made every aspect of her private life public, it is more accurate to separate documented career information from speculation.
Is Illia Wayans Married or Dating?
There is no sufficiently reliable public evidence establishing a marriage or current romantic relationship that should be presented as fact.
Rather than assigning a relationship status based on unsourced celebrity-biography pages, it is better to acknowledge that her private romantic life is not well documented in authoritative public sources.
Does Illia Wayans Have Social Media?
Social-media profiles can be difficult to authenticate, especially when people share similar names.
Although online references may point to accounts associated with Ilia Wayans, an account should not be described as official unless there is enough evidence connecting it to her.
For that reason, this biography does not treat an unverified social-media profile as an official account.
What Is Illia Wayans’ Net Worth?
There is no reliable public figure establishing Illia Wayans’ personal net worth.
Celebrity websites sometimes publish numerical estimates for people connected to famous families, but an estimated number is not the same as verified financial information.
Her father’s wealth or the financial success of the wider Wayans family should also not be presented as Illia’s personal net worth.
The responsible conclusion is simple: her personal net worth is not publicly verified.
Why Is Illia Wayans’ Biography Reported Differently Online?
There are several reasons.
1. Her name appears with different spellings
NYU and IMDb use Ilia Wayans, while “Illia Wayans” is common in search queries.
2. Her exact birthday is not strongly established
A birth year of 2003 is documented in Shawn Wayans’ IMDb biography, but an exact day and month should not be treated as confirmed without stronger evidence.
3. Her career has been oversimplified
Some biography pages describe her primarily through her Wayans family connection or make unsupported claims about other careers.
The stronger evidence instead documents film education, filmmaking, directing and production.
4. Celebrity-family websites often repeat one another
When a private family member does not have a long public biography, one site’s claim can quickly become the source for another site’s claim.
That is why primary or institutional sources matter.
In Illia’s case, NYU provides unusually useful first-hand documentation of her education and filmmaking work.
What Is Actually Confirmed About Illia Wayans?

This distinction is important because a biography becomes more useful when it tells readers not only what is known, but also where the public record stops.
Illia Wayans and the Wayans Family Legacy
The Wayans family is one of the better-known entertainment families in American comedy and film.
Shawn Wayans built a career across television, comedy, film and writing, while his siblings and other relatives have worked as actors, writers, directors, producers and performers. IMDb’s family records place Ilia within this larger network of Wayans relatives.
But Illia’s own path is worth separating from that legacy.
Her NYU education, short films, directing recognition and production work demonstrate an individual interest in storytelling. Her work is connected to a famous family, but it is not defined entirely by that family.
That distinction is especially relevant when comparing her with other celebrity-family figures covered by TrendVica, such as Kodi Capri’s biography and family background or Lauren Maxwell’s family story.

Final Takeaway

NYU documents her Film & TV education, BFA and directing work, including Me (and You), while FilmFreeway records her earlier short film Go Fish. NYU also lists her 2025 Jagat Murari Directing Award, and IMDb documents production and screen credits including Poppa’s House and Scary Movie (2026).
At the same time, important parts of her private life remain undocumented. Her exact birthday, current relationship status and personal net worth should not be filled in with unsupported claims simply because other websites publish them.
